Return to Work Program (work conditioning/work hardening): The WCS Return to Work Program is an individualized exercise based rehabilitation program designed to promote maximal physical adaptation and work capacity. With a treatment frequency of 5 days per week for 2-4 hours, patients quickly realize considerable functional gains due to two key factors. First, a low patient to provider ratio allows for individualized focused rehabilitation and education in a positive and empowering environment. Second, WCS combines Orthopedic Physical Therapy techniques along with contemporary Exercise Science principles within a controlled delivery system. The unique combination of these factors promotes maximal improvements in work and physical capacity in a time efficient manner.

Functional Capacity Evaluation: A four hour one-on-one test to determine a client’s maximal functional capabilities which are then compared to actual work requirements obtained from a job description. Testing includes: Patient history, anthropometrics testing, active and passive range of motion assessment, orthopedic testing, functional strength and endurance testing. Objective measures, physical demand rating, and return to work ability with or without restrictions are detailed in a concise, easy to read format.

On-Site Job Analysis with Job Description: Details the essential functions and means by which a job is performed through video analysis, employee/ supervisor interviews, and quantitative analysis. Quantitative analysis would include but not be limited to assessing: equipment utilized, forces and repetitions required, joint positions and loads handled. The information gathered provides the basis of the functional job description, which will be issued in compact disc form so a written copy can be printed and the on-site video footage can be viewed.

Physical Therapy: WCS physical therapy is the preliminary phase of the Return to Work Program designed for the acute-level patient. WCS physical therapists specialize in rehabilitation and education of patients with acute orthopedic physical injuries occurring on the job. Licensed physical therapists deliver an exercise based program and appropriate modality treatments in a low patient to provider ratio with a treatment frequency of 3-5 days/wk for 2 hours. The goals of WCS physical therapy include maximizing range of motion, stability, neuromuscular efficiency, and functional capabilities for a safe transition into the Return to Work program.
